Invitation / Welcome

ISOPOL XVII - International Symposium On Problems Of Listeriosis - will take place in May in 2010 in Portugal.

ISOPOL XVII will bring together specialists from a wide range of scientific disciplines from all over the world - (from Vets, Medics, Bioscientists to Public-Health and Food Industry specialists, from junior researchers to world-leaders in their fields) - to debate the most important and up to date issues concerning Listeria and Listeriosis.

For the first time ISOPOL will take place in Portugal, in its second city and northern capital, Porto. With its rich history, and unique atmosphere - at once ancient and contemporary - Porto is becoming a major conference destination and we promise that it will not disappoint for ISOPOL XVII.

The Heinz P.R. Seeliger Award

The Heinz P.R. Seeliger Foundation was created in 1998 by Dr. Brigitte Seeliger, wife of the late Prof. H.P.R. Seeliger, one of the pioneers of listeriosis research. The aim of the foundation is the promotion of scientific research in the fields of listeriosis, medical mycology and enteric infections.

To this end the "Heinz P.R. Seeliger Award" is bestowed every year on an eminent scientist from one of the fields of research mentioned above, alternating between the topics. In 2010 the award will be given for listeriosis research.
